Story so far

The story so far...

One hundred years ago the last Avatar had vanished to no one knew where, various individuals from each of the nations had gathered. Earth Kingdom's Dai Li had been visiting to protect an official. An air nomad and a few students. Water tribesmen. Cranky firebenders to defend one of their beloved sages. Not all had given up on finding the new Avatar, which had caused them to gather to discuss tactics outside of their individual governments.

Records had been brought with each group, describing new births and new talents amongst their benders. However fierce storms interrupted these talks, as people scrambled to escape. Those that reached the storm's edge died, but not all had tried the feat. So they survived to see the walls recede and grow in height.

The storms swarmed over the islands. Trapping their inhabitants and visitors within unending walls of water and wind. The elders and those most powerful did their best to quell the waters and winds, to no effect. All that could be done was to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

Though not everything was returned to how it had been. Much was lost - water damage, fire damage, age... knowledge was forgotten. Technology was mere wisps of what it had been.

Since then, all but the oldest and most revered buildings have been rebuilt. Homes have been repaired and new families begun. New life. If simple and humble. The spirits spoke in whispers, with the occasional shout and screech if one strayed where they had no business. Or when the spirit so chose.

For the most part they lived in peace, with the occasional conflict (mostly over supplies and work) to keep people from growing too restless in captivity. But the various elements decided to stick to themselves, air drifting off to the island that suited them best. Earth stubbornly held onto their island. Water moved on to a lush island with plenty of water within and around. Fire held fast before flaring brightly and darting off to lay claim on the one island covered in lava and volcanoes.

Years passed and the population grew a little. The walls showed no sign of falling or weakening in the slightest.

Then strange people began arriving. One. By. One. Some injured, others perfectly healthy, but knowing nothing of their world nor the new bending abilities some of them had. The waterbending healers did what they could for them, uncertain what the spirits had in mind.
